Global Competency

As a DECA Emerging Leader, member, and competitor, I enjoy all the opportunities it enables.

It exposes its members to business, project management, and leadership curriculum, as well as 21st-century skill-building - including cultural and global awareness.
The DECA.org organization has chapters in 10 countries and continues to grow internationally.
I was honored to participate in one International Career Development Conference (ICDC) and experience the sense of both competition and camaraderie from meeting kids representing other US states and countries. Strategically trading in the DECA Pin Exchange still brings a smile to my face.

While all of the above instill the pride of being a future international professional, my first DECA project remains closest to my heart.

For my first competitive event, a Project Management Sales Project (PMSP), our team created the plan for a culture fest marketplace, as an opportunity to blend fundraising with business advertising and community building.

Both my teammate and I, as children of immigrants from different areas of the world (Asia and Eastern Europe), appreciate how such an event would bring people together.
